Childrens Dentist
Children's Dentistry isn't the only thing we do at Pearly Whites Laser Dentistry. We are a family dental practice and we do treat the children of our adult patients.
We treat our young patients using State-of-the-Art technology, including lasers for detecting decay, preparing teeth that require sealant and fillings. Most patients experience far less discomfort.
Sealants - We use glass ionomer cement to coat the biting surfaces of back teeth to protect deep grooves from decay. Glass ionomer cement acts as a long term fluoride delivery system that recharges with fluoride every time your child brushes with fluoride toothpaste.
Fluorides - help to make the tooth more resistant to being dissolved by the bacterial acids. Fluorides are available from a variety of sources such as drinking water, toothpaste, ber-the-counter rinses, and products prescribed by your dentist such as brush-on gels used at home or varnishes applied in the dental office. Children's Dentists everywhere suggest Daily use is very important to help protect against acid attacks.
Plaque removal - from your teeth on a daily basis is helpful in controlling tooth decay. Plaque can be difficult to remove from some parts of your mouth especially between the teeth and in the grooves on the biting surfaces of back teeth.
If you have an appliance such as a orthodontic retainer, remove it before brushing and flossing your teeth. Brush all surfaces of the appliance also, but don't use toothpaste as it may contain an abrasive that would remove the polish and cause the retainer to stain and tartar.
Diet- Reducing the number of sugary and starchy foods, snacks, drinks or candies can help reduce the development of tooth decay. That does not mean you can never eat these types of foods, but you should limit their consumption between meals or add them into your meal. A good rule is 3 meals per day and no more than 3 snacks per day.
That's about it from Dr Tess, your Childrens Dentist.
